Before Wendy and I sat inside, we made a bee line for the complimentary teas that we could try. I had a raspberry but the Calming tea with goji berries was my favourite. It was great for a humid day and thank god that there was the option of dining outside and inside where there was air conditioning!!!

The snack for the afternoon is King Prawn dumplings $7.90 for 3 pieces. These gorgeous beauties were minced up prawn meat with a hint of chilli and a big fat juicy prawn sitting on top of that wrapped in a clear dumpling skin and steamed to perfection. They were actually quite big that I had to cut it in half with my chopsticks. I really love having actual prawn pieces let alone a WHOLE prawn in a dumpling because some places can be stingey whilst still being expensive. I will come here again just because of that and because the prawns tastes bloody good.

Bonus points for the fantastic service and impressive decor. The host was nice and friendly and the waiters weren’t too intrusive. Sometimes you can feel that some places just want you to eat and go, but here we took our sweet, sweet time. It was good that after clearing our empty dishes that we weren’t pressured into ordering extras (there’s a difference between pressuring and just checking to see if we needed anything).

Chance of returning: Medium – The Melbourne Central site is more spacious and even prettier than the one in Little Collins Street. I really should go to Oriental Tea House more often. I don’t give a rats’ arse if this is a chain store because their Father store is David’s and that place is of healing and medicinal dishes that make me feel better. http://davidsrestaurant.com.au/
